03 Nov H2MARINE participated in European Hydrogen Week 2026
The H2MARINE project participated in European Hydrogen Week, held from 26–30 October at Brussels Expo, joining stakeholders, researchers, and industry representatives from across the hydrogen sector.
Throughout the week, we had the opportunity to showcase our project’s activities, exchange knowledge, and engage in discussions on the latest developments in hydrogen technologies, with a particular focus on their potential to support the decarbonisation of maritime transport.

As part of the EU Projects Pavilion, Mr. Kyriakos Panopoulos, H2MARINE Project Coordinator, delivered a presentation titled “Scaling PEM Fuel-Cell Systems to 10 MWe for Shipping”, introducing the project’s approach to developing large-scale hydrogen fuel-cell systems for maritime applications.

At Booth G43, Hall 11, we also welcomed visitors interested in H2MARINE, sharing insights into our ongoing work and discussing both the technical challenges and opportunities associated with hydrogen-powered shipping.
On 29 October, our participation continued with a site visit to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, one of Europe’s key maritime and industrial hubs.
The visit offered an opportunity to explore how major European ports are preparing for the growing role of hydrogen in the energy transition, particularly through infrastructure development for hydrogen imports, storage, and distribution.
We also gained insights into the potential of hydrogen-based fuels, including ammonia and methanol, to contribute to cleaner shipping and industrial operations.

For H2MARINE, the visit was particularly relevant, highlighting the importance of connecting advances in hydrogen fuel-cell technologies with the infrastructure and operational needs of the maritime sector.

A big thank you to everyone who visited our booth, attended our presentation, and exchanged ideas with us throughout the week.
